I got several requests to make a tutorial demo for this painting, so here it is ! The clementines just are a nice, colorful subject to paint I guess. (And they stay fresh for a long time.) Features in this movie:
Comments on how to paint DUST on objects
Tricks to achieve a sense of LIGHT and DEPTH in a painting
Comments on specific paint mixtures used, for each area in the painting
Using different mediums for initial couch and for painting in later stages
No sound but english comments in subtitles

Setup
I don't have a picture of the setup in the movie, so I'm adding it here.
The painting is placed more or less directly next to the setup, for easy comparing. The painting is illuminated by 6 solux bulbs (not visible here). The setup on the right is illuminated by fluorescent tubes in the ceiling (Philips tld 90 de luxe, 3x 5550k, 1x 3500k.) I use curtains to partly put the setup in the shadow, for creating more depth and drama in the painting...
Cherries are a very nice subject to paint, but (and) also quite a challenge! Look over my shoulder to see how I approach this subject. Major features of this movie:

Palette visible in full view
Photograph of the setup included
Specific cherry topics: edges, reflections, stems
Some glass painting topics

There was some demand for a demo with eggs, so I decided to paint one! Difficulty with this predominantly monochrome painting is to get the subtle shifts in hue right. Major features in this movie:
6 1/2 hour Full painting from start to end, nothing left out
Palette visible in full view with turps, so you can see at which moments I clean the brush
I included a photograph of the setup in the movie, so you can see where the painting is heading
No sound but english comments in subtitles
Topics touched upon: EGGS, most challenging subject in still life; enhance form with small hue shifts; near-monochrome subject
Price: 5 Euro, payment via PayPal / Credit Card
You will receive the download link in your mail a few minutes after the payment is completed.

A new still life tutorial is here! This one went rather smoothly. I set out to get clean
edges from the start, so as to get a more or less finished look from the first brush strokes.
Also varied the medium and painting surface slightly. Brief features:
12 1/2 hour Full painting from start to end, nothing left out
Palette visible in full view
No sound but english comments in subtitles
Improved video quality (less blocky than previous movie)
Topics touched upon: new stand oil based medium, easel ligting, realism enhancing edge work, and more..
Price: 5 Euro, payment via PayPal / Credit Card
You will receive the download link in your mail a few minutes after the payment is completed.

This is the first full movie I'm going to post. I hope everything will work (download/paypal etc), bare with me and let me know if it doesn't ... (josvanr A T gmail.com)
The movie contains more than 15 hours of painting. You can see the entire process of evolving the painting from start to end, with nothing left out. Also you can see what I'm doing on my palette as shown in the image. There is no sound in the movie (keep file as small as possible) but I added subtitles containting English comments on what I'm doing. I had use a fair amount of compression to make this possible, so some parts of the movie will look blocky, but the detailed parts will look fine and I feel this was the best way. So one way I imagine you use the file is to open it in your movie player and then fast forward until you see something interesting, or until you see a comment appearing at the bottom. Then just resume normal play. (Or watch the entire 15 hours of course.)
Note: the movie format is AVI/MPEG4. Playable on Win/Mac/linux with UMPlayer.
The movie is available for 5 Euro. Payment via paypal or credit card. Just click the 'buy now' button below and follow the instructions. The amount will be automatically converted to your currency. You will receive the download link in your mail a few minutes after the payment is completed.. The file size is 1.4 Gb, so downloading may take some time, depending on how fast your connection is.
