    1. Hello Mirko,

Thnx for downloading! Yes, there is no audio, as described on the blog. Comments are provided in the subtitles.

The video is in real time all right (12 hours), but to reduce file size, I used a low frame rate. This makes motion look a bit smeared out / fluid. But the speed of the movements is as it actually was in reality.

If the video is not 12 hours, please let me know, maybe something went wrong with downloading..

  9. The oil painting shown on that site is the best . The colors were very nice . I like it . The finishing and the neatness of the painting was very good .

  10. Hi Jos, very nice demo, learned a lot.

    A few questions:

-In case your painting surface dries before you finish the painting, do you apply a second layer of linseed oil to the dry surface before starting again?

-Any particular reason for using scheveningen red over a Cadmium
    red?

-Never tried ox hair brushes before, do they have a different feel than marter or mongoose hair brushes?

Thanks in advance for the answers.

    1. thnx !

      1) yes, but I prefer to do everything wet into wet. Its difficult not to make things spotty without repainting the entire area

      2) cheaper

      3) the ox hair from 'van gogh' are a bit stiffer and have somewhat shorter hair. I find this more practical in laying on extra touches of paint, especially when the medium is rather thick......

    1. hello I dont have a video with the spanish subtitles, but i could send you a text file ('.srt' file) that contains the subtitles as ascii text in english. Then you could translate it using google translate.....

  14. Hello Jos,
Yesterday I have bought your Portrait Tutorial video which last about 12 hours. Not quite easy to navigate it.
In order to increase the effectiveness of your work, it should be very practical if your students could navigate the tutorial with the support of a reference tool. This tool could be easily made by a printed list of the the notes in the subtitles, sequenced by their relevant starting timing.
Please Jos, make available to all your students a pdf file containing the timed list of the text notes.
Thanks in advance for your further effort.

  15. hello Bruno,

Ok I'll think about how to do this. In the meantime, please try UMPlayer for playing the movie. You can then use the left and right arrow keys to fast forward and back, and you can stop as soon as a new comment appears....

  17. Just purchased the video and was hoping it would include a download of the resource image. I printed out a copy of the jpeg from the site but it is very low resolution and poor quality. Is it possible to get a better quality photo?
    Thank you
